Ingredients

  • Ground chicken - 300 grams
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 1 tablespoon (optional for keto, can substitute with a keto-friendly sweetener)
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Romaine lettuce leaves - 4 large
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons (for serving)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 2 equal-sized patties.
  3. Preheat a grill or a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the yakitori sauce by combining soy sauce and mirin in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until slightly thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, brush them with the yakitori sauce before serving.
  6. To assemble, place each patty in a large romaine lettuce leaf, add a dollop of mayonnaise, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Wrap the lettuce around the patty to enjoy.
