Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Mirin (or sugar-free substitute) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sake (or cooking wine) - 1 tablespoon
  • Onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large (for wrapping)
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Keto-friendly mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Sriracha or chili sauce - to taste (optional)

Steps

  1. In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet. Sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, mirin, and sake. Cook for another 5 minutes until the mixture is well combined and heated through. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. While the beef mixture is cooking, prepare the lettuce wraps by washing and drying the lettuce leaves.
  6. To serve, place a generous amount of the beef mixture in the center of each lettuce leaf. Top with chopped green onions and a dollop of keto-friendly mayonnaise. Add sriracha or chili sauce if desired.
