Ingredients
- Katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) - 30g
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (30ml)
- Mirin - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
- Water - 100ml
- Sukiyaki sauce or sweetener (like erythritol) - 1 teaspoon (optional)
- Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon (for garnish)
- Chopped green onions - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, mirin, and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Once simmering, add the katsuobushi flakes and stir well. If you prefer a sweeter taste, add the optional sweetener at this stage.
- Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. The katsuobushi will absorb some of the sauce and become more flavorful.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
