Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 250 grams
  • Panko breadcrumbs - 100 grams
  • All-purpose flour - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Mirin - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 100 ml (for frying)
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Shredded cabbage - 50 grams
  • Sliced cucumber - 50 grams
  • Sliced tomato - 1 medium
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Begin by marinating the chicken breast in soy sauce and mirin for about 10 minutes.
  2. While the chicken is marinating, prepare three separate bowls: one with flour mixed with salt and pepper, one with the beaten egg, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Remove the chicken from the marinade and coat it first in the flour mixture, then dip it into the egg, and finally coat it thoroughly with the panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded chicken and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Toast the burger buns lightly in the same pan or in a toaster.
  6. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun, then layer with shredded cabbage, the fried chicken, sliced cucumber, and tomato.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired, then place the top half of the bun on each burger and serve hot.
