- Sushi rice - 150 grams
- Water - 180 ml
- Inari age (tofu pouches) - 4 pieces
- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Mirin - 15 ml
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 15 ml
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Chopped green onions - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a pot, combine the rinsed sushi rice and water, and let it soak for 30 minutes.
- After soaking, bring the rice to a boil over medium heat, cover, and reduce to low heat for 15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the rice sit covered for 10 minutes to steam.
- In a small saucepan, mix soy sauce, mirin, sugar, rice vinegar, and salt over low heat until sugar dissolves, then remove from heat.
- Gently fold the seasoning mixture into the cooked rice, allowing it to cool to room temperature.
- Prepare the inari age by gently opening each tofu pouch.
- Fill each pouch with the seasoned sushi rice, packing it lightly to prevent tearing.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top of the filled pouches before serving.
