- Inari age (fried tofu pouches) - 4 pieces
- Sushi rice - 150 grams
- Water - 200 ml
- Rice vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Chopped scallions - 2 tablespoons
- Nori (seaweed) strips - for garnish (optional)
Steps
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18 minutes or until the water is absorbed.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
- Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and gently fold in the vinegar mixture until well combined. Let it cool to room temperature.
- While the rice cools, prepare the inari age by gently opening each pouch.
- Once the rice is cool, fill each inari pouch with the seasoned sushi rice, pressing lightly to pack it in.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped scallions on top for added flavor.
- Garnish with nori strips if desired, and serve immediately.
