- Salmon roe (Ikura) - 100 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Mirin - 1 tablespoon
- Chopped green onions - 2 tablespoons
- Nori (seaweed) - 1 sheet, cut into strips
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, toasted
Steps
- Rinse the Japanese short-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- Combine the rinsed rice and water in a rice cooker or pot. Cook according to the rice cooker's instructions or bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
- While the rice is cooking, prepare the seasoning by mixing soy sauce and mirin in a small bowl.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and divide it into two bowls.
- Top each bowl of rice with 50 grams of salmon roe, drizzling the soy sauce and mirin mixture over the top.
- Garnish with chopped green onions, strips of nori, and toasted sesame seeds before serving.
