- Water - 50 ml
- Cornstarch - 20 grams (for dusting)
- Matcha powder - 1 teaspoon
- Red bean paste (kosher certified) - 50 grams
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine sweet rice flour and granulated sugar.
- Gradually add water to the flour mixture while stirring, until a smooth batter forms.
- Divide the batter into two equal portions. To one portion, add matcha powder and mix until well combined.
- Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil. Line a small steaming dish or plate with parchment paper.
- Pour each batter portion into separate sections of the lined steaming dish, smoothing the tops.
- Steam the batter for about 15 minutes, or until it becomes firm and translucent.
- Once steamed, remove from the steamer and let cool for a few minutes.
- Dust a clean surface with cornstarch, then turn out the steamed sweets onto the surface.
- Cut each portion into squares or desired shapes and fill half with a small amount of red bean paste.
- Fold or sandwich the cut pieces and dust with more cornstarch to prevent sticking.
