- Beef (sliced, halal) - 300 grams
- Onion (sliced) - 1 medium
- Soy sauce (halal) - 4 tablespoons
- Mirin - 2 tablespoons
- Sake (halal) - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Dashi stock (halal) - 200 ml
- Cooked white rice - 2 cups
- Green onions (sliced) - for garnish
- Pickled ginger - for garnish
- Sesame seeds - for garnish
Steps
- In a medium pot, combine dashi stock, soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the sliced onions to the pot and simmer for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Add the sliced beef to the pot and cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is cooked through.
- While the beef is cooking, prepare the rice according to package instructions if not already cooked.
- Once the beef and onion mixture is ready, serve immediately over bowls of hot cooked rice.
- Garnish with sliced green onions, pickled ginger, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds before serving.
