Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 300 grams, thinly sliced
  • Cauliflower rice - 400 grams
  • Soy sauce (low sodium) - 4 tablespoons
  • Mirin (or sugar-free alternative) - 2 tablespoons
  • Dashi (Japanese soup stock) - 200 ml
  • Onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
  • Pickled ginger - for serving (optional)

Steps

  1. In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the sliced beef. Cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Pour in the dashi, soy sauce, and mirin, stirring to combine. Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. While the beef simmers, prepare the cauliflower rice according to package instructions or steam it until tender.
  6. Divide the cauliflower rice into two bowls and top each bowl with the beef mixture. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve with pickled ginger if desired.
