- soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- mirin - 2 tablespoons
- sugar - 1 tablespoon
- dashi stock - 200 ml (or beef broth)
- cooked rice - 2 cups
- green onions - 2 stalks, chopped (for garnish)
- shichimi togarashi - to taste (optional)
Steps
- Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the sliced halal beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and dashi stock together.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and onions in the skillet, stirring to combine.
- Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- While the beef is simmering, prepare the cooked rice in bowls.
- Once the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened slightly, remove from heat.
- Spoon the beef and onion mixture over the rice in each bowl.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sprinkle with shichimi togarashi if desired.
