Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 200 grams, thinly sliced
  • Onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Dashi stock - 200 ml
  • Cooked white rice - 2 cups
  • Eggs - 2 large
  • Green onions - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon, for garnish

Steps

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and dashi stock. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the thinly sliced beef to the saucepan and simmer for another 5-7 minutes until the beef is cooked through.
  4. While the beef is cooking, prepare the eggs by beating them in a bowl.
  5. In a separate non-stick skillet, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat and pour in the beaten eggs. Cook gently, stirring, until the eggs are softly scrambled.
  6. To serve, place 1 cup of cooked rice in each bowl. Spoon the beef and onion mixture over the rice, and top with the scrambled eggs.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
