Ingredients
- Beef tongue - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Mirin - 2 tablespoons
- Sake - 2 tablespoons
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- Start by cleaning the beef tongue under cold running water. Remove any excess fat or skin.
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Place the cleaned beef tongue in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably overnight for deeper flavor.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Remove the tongue from the marinade and let any excess drip off. Grill the tongue for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and nicely charred.
- Once grilled, allow the tongue to rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
- Serve the sliced gyu tan garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
