Ingredients
- Beef sirloin - 300 grams
- Almond flour - 50 grams
- Pork rinds, crushed - 30 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Avocado oil - 50 ml
- Soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free) - 30 ml
- Mirin (optional) - 10 ml
- Green onions, chopped - for garnish
Steps
- Slice the beef sirloin into 1.5 cm thick cutlets against the grain. Use a meat mallet to gently pound the cutlets to tenderize them.
- In a shallow bowl, mix the almond flour, crushed pork rinds, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, beat the egg until well mixed.
- Dip each beef cutlet first into the beaten egg, allowing the excess to drip off, then coat it in the almond flour and pork rind mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat the avocado oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the coated beef cutlets, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the cutlets from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, mix soy sauce and mirin (if using) to create a dipping sauce.
- Serve the Gyu-Katsu hot, garnished with chopped green onions, alongside the dipping sauce.
