Ingredients

  • Gyoza wrappers - 12 pieces
  • Ground chicken (kosher) - 200 grams
  • Green onions - 2, finely chopped
  • Cabbage - 100 grams, finely shredded
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Soy sauce (kosher) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon (for frying)
  • Water - 1/4 cup (for steaming)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, green onions, cabbage, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Place a gyoza wrapper in your palm and add about 1 tablespoon of filling in the center.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold it in half, and pinch the edges to seal tightly. Create pleats along the edge for a decorative finish.
  4. Repeat the process until all the filling is used up.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Arrange the gyoza in a single layer and fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
  6. Carefully add the water to the skillet and cover immediately. Steam the gyoza for about 5-7 minutes, or until the water has evaporated and the gyoza are cooked through.
  7. Remove the lid, let the gyoza cook for an additional minute to crisp the bottoms, then transfer to a serving plate.
  8. Serve warm with a dipping sauce made from soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
