Ingredients
- Kosher ground chicken - 200 grams
- Cabbage - 50 grams, finely chopped
- Carrot - 30 grams, grated
- Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Soy sauce (kosher) - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Gyoza wrappers - 12 pieces
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons for frying
- Water - 100 ml for steaming
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped cabbage, grated carrot, green onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Take a gyoza wrapper and place a teaspoon of the filling in the center. Moisten the edge of the wrapper with water, fold it in half, and pinch to seal. You can create pleats for a traditional look if desired. Repeat this for all wrappers.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Arrange the gyoza in the skillet, flat side down, and cook for about 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Carefully pour in 100 ml of water and cover the skillet with a lid immediately. Let the gyoza steam for about 5-7 minutes or until the water has evaporated.
- Remove the lid and let the gyoza cook for an additional minute to re-crisp the bottoms. Serve hot with a dipping sauce made of soy sauce and a splash of rice vinegar.
