Ingredients

  • Salmon fillets - 2 pieces (150g each)
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 2 tablespoons
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, toasted
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon (for grilling)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the teriyaki marinade.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and brush it lightly with vegetable oil.
  4. Remove the salmon from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off, and grill the fillets for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  5. While grilling, you can brush the salmon with additional marinade for extra flavor, but be cautious not to cross-contaminate.
  6. Once cooked, remove the salmon from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  7. Serve the grilled salmon garnished with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
