Ingredients
- Halal ground beef - 250 grams
- Goya (bitter melon) - 100 grams
- Burger buns - 2 pieces
- Miso paste - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Spring onion - 1, finely chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Vegetable oil - for frying
Steps
- Slice the goya in half lengthwise, remove seeds, and thinly slice it into half-moon shapes.
- In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat and add the sliced goya. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until tender. Add minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the miso paste, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Pour this mixture over the goya and stir well to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then set aside.
- In a separate bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form the beef into two patties.
- In the same skillet, add more vegetable oil if needed and cook the patties over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your preferred doneness.
- Toast the burger buns in the skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers: place a patty on each bun, top with the stir-fried goya mixture, and sprinkle with chopped spring onion. Close the burger with the top bun.
- Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
