Ingredients

  • Fresh spinach - 200 grams

  • Mirin - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil and prepare an ice bath in a bowl with cold water and ice cubes.
  2. Add the fresh spinach to the boiling water and blanch for about 1-2 minutes until wilted.
  3. Immediately transfer the spinach to the ice bath to stop the cooking process. Let it cool for a few minutes.
  4. Once cooled, drain the spinach and gently squeeze out excess water. Chop into bite-sized pieces.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the roasted sesame seeds, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sesame oil. Mix until well combined.
  6. Add the chopped spinach to the sesame dressing and toss until evenly coated.
  7. Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for a refreshing appetizer.
