Ingredients
- Shrimp, peeled and deveined - 200 grams
- Napa cabbage, finely chopped - 50 grams
- Green onion, finely chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic, minced - 1 clove
- Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce (kosher) - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Gyoza wrappers - 12 pieces
- Cooking oil (for frying) - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 100 ml
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the shrimp, napa cabbage, green onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly coated.
- Place a gyoza wrapper on a clean surface and add about 1 tablespoon of the shrimp mixture to the center of the wrapper.
- Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold it over to create a half-moon shape, and press the edges together to seal. Make pleats along the sealed edge for a traditional look. Repeat this step with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat the cooking oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, arrange the gyoza in the skillet, flat side down, and cook for about 2-3 minutes, until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Carefully add 100 ml of water to the skillet and cover immediately with a lid. Allow the gyoza to steam for about 5-6 minutes, or until the water has evaporated and the gyoza are cooked through.
- Remove the lid and allow the gyoza to cook for an additional minute to crisp up the bottoms. Serve hot, accompanied by a dipping sauce made from soy sauce and a splash of rice vinegar.
