Ingredients

  • Large shrimp (peeled and deveined) - 300 grams
  • All-purpose flour - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Panko breadcrumbs - 100 grams
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) - 500 ml
  • Lemon wedges (for serving) - 2 wedges

Steps

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg until well combined.
  4. Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  5. Coat each shrimp first in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess, then dip into the beaten egg, and finally coat thoroughly with panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  7. Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  8. Fry the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove the shrimp from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  10. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
