Ingredients

  • Large shrimp (peeled and deveined) - 250 grams
  • All-purpose flour - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Panko breadcrumbs - 100 grams
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) - 500 ml
  • Lemon wedges (for serving) - 2 wedges
  • Tonkatsu sauce (Halal) - 50 ml

Steps

  1. Begin by preparing the shrimp; rinse and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a shallow bowl, season the all-purpose flour with salt and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg until smooth.
  4. In a third bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Dredge each shrimp in the seasoned flour, shaking off the excess.
  6. Dip the floured shrimp into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off.
  7. Coat the shrimp in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  8. In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  9. Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  11. Serve the Ebi Fry hot with lemon wedges and drizzle with tonkatsu sauce.
