Ingredients
- all-purpose flour - 200 grams
- granulated sugar - 30 grams
- active dry yeast - 5 grams
- salt - 2 grams
- warm water - 120 milliliters
- vegetable oil - 15 milliliters
- red bean paste (sweetened) - 100 grams
- cornstarch - for dusting
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30-40 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal pieces.
- Flatten each piece of dough into a circle and place about 25 grams of red bean paste in the center of each circle.
- Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal tightly, forming a smooth ball.
- Place the filled buns seam-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, cover, and let rise for another 20 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly before serving.
