  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Dashi stock - 200 ml
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, sliced
  • Grated daikon radish - 100 grams
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Drain the firm tofu and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel to absorb excess moisture for about 10 minutes.
  3. Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Sprinkle cornstarch evenly over the tofu cubes, ensuring they are well-coated.
  5. Drizzle vegetable oil over the tofu and toss gently to coat. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  6. In a small saucepan, combine dashi stock, soy sauce, and mirin. Heat over medium heat until warmed through.
  7. Once the tofu is done baking, remove it from the oven and place it in shallow bowls.
  8. Pour the warm dashi mixture over the tofu cubes.
  9. Top with sliced green onions, grated daikon radish, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds before serving.
