Ingredients
- Black sesame seeds - 60 grams
- Water - 500 milliliters
- Soy milk - 200 milliliters
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Cornstarch - 10 grams
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- Rinse the black sesame seeds under cold water and drain.
- Toast the black sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat for about 5 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
- In a blender, combine the toasted black sesame seeds and water. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth into a pot to remove any solid bits, pressing down to extract as much liquid as possible.
- Add soy milk, sugar, and a pinch of salt to the pot and stir well. Heat over medium heat until warmed through, but do not let it boil.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with a few tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Gradually add this to the pot, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
- Once thickened to your desired consistency, remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
