Ingredients

  • Mackerel fillets - 2 (200g each)
  • Miso paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2 (sliced for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together miso paste, mirin, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  3. Place the mackerel fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the marinated mackerel fillets skin-side down on the tray.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
