Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Sugar - 10 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Vegetable oil - 15 ml
- Japanese curry roux - 100 grams
- Ground chicken (or any halal meat) - 100 grams
- Onion - 1 small, diced
- Carrot - 1 small, diced
- Green peas - 50 grams
- Egg - 1, for egg wash
Steps
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil, knead until smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes).
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- In a pan, sauté the diced onions and carrots until soft. Add ground chicken and cook until browned.
- Add the Japanese curry roux and green peas to the pan with the chicken mixture. Follow package instructions, usually adding water to create a thick sauce. Cook until thickened, then let it cool.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a flat circle.
- Place a spoonful of the curry filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the edges over and pinch to seal.
- Place the filled dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for another 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the dough.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
