Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 150 grams
  • water - 70 ml
  • sunflower oil - 2 tablespoons
  • apples (Granny Smith or similar) - 2 medium, peeled and sliced
  • brown sugar - 50 grams
  • cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • raisins - 30 grams
  • walnuts (chopped) - 30 grams
  • plant-based milk (for brushing) - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, water, and sunflower oil to form a dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, raisins, and chopped walnuts until well combined.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a thin rectangle, about 30x40 cm (12x16 inches).
  5. Spread the apple filling evenly along one edge of the dough, then carefully roll the dough over the filling to form a log.
  6. Place the strudel seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with plant-based milk.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
