Ingredients

  • Spaghetti - 160 grams
  • Spirulina powder - 2 teaspoons
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cherry tomatoes - 200 grams, halved
  • Fresh basil - 10 grams, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons (optional for a cheesy flavor)

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  2. While the spaghetti is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes soften and release their juices.
  4. Stir in the spirulina powder, fresh basil, and lemon juice. Mix well and let it cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti and add it to the skillet with the sauce.
  6. Toss the spaghetti in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve immediately, topped with nutritional yeast if desired.
