Ingredients
- Spaghetti - 200 grams
- Large shrimp, peeled and deveined - 200 grams
- Fresh tomatoes, diced - 400 grams
- Garlic, minced - 3 cloves
- Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Fresh basil leaves, chopped - 10 grams
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
- Parmesan cheese, grated - 30 grams (optional)
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the diced tomatoes to the skillet, season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down and create a sauce.
- Add the shrimp to the tomato sauce and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
- Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water and drain the rest. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the shrimp and tomato sauce.
- Toss the spaghetti in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency. Stir in chopped basil and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
