- Ground beef - 400 grams
- Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Oregano - 1 teaspoon, dried
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Bun - 2
- Caponata (eggplant relish) - 100 grams
- Fresh basil leaves - for garnish
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into two equal parts and form each part into a patty, about 2 cm thick.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- While the burgers are cooking, toast the burger buns in the same skillet until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.
- Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each beef patty on a toasted bun, topping with a generous spoonful of caponata and a few fresh basil leaves.
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
