Ingredients

  • Mackerel - 2 fillets (approximately 250g each)
  • Lemon - 1, juiced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Sea salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 500 ml

Steps

  1. Prepare the steaming setup by filling a pot with 500 ml of water and bringing it to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. While the water heats, season the mackerel fillets with sea salt, black pepper, lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and dill.
  3. Drizzle olive oil over the seasoned fillets for added flavor.
  4. Once the water is simmering, place the mackerel fillets in a steaming basket or on a heatproof plate that fits inside the pot without touching the water.
  5. Cover the pot with a lid and steam the mackerel for about 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
