Ingredients

  • Cooked chestnuts - 200 grams
  • Milk - 200 ml
  • Heavy cream - 100 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Eggs - 2 large
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Butter - for greasing

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and prepare a small baking dish by greasing it with butter.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the cooked chestnuts, milk, heavy cream, and sugar. Heat over medium heat until warm, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Then, use a blender or food processor to puree the mixture until smooth.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Gradually add the chestnut puree to the egg mixture, stirring until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and place it in a larger baking pan filled with hot water (bain-marie).
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool to room temperature before refrigerating for at least 1 hour.
  8. Serve chilled, optionally garnished with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
