Ingredients

  • Italian sausage (sweet or spicy) - 300 grams
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Yellow bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Green bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh basil - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and garlic, sautéing for about 3 minutes until they start to soften.
  3. Add the sliced bell peppers and continue to sauté for another 5 minutes until they start to soften.
  4. Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the Italian sausage, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the sausage is browned and cooked through.
  5. Stir the sausage and vegetables together, then season with dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 3 minutes until everything is well combined.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
