- Italian sausage (sweet or spicy) - 300 grams
- Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
- Yellow bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
- Green bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
- Onion - 1 medium, sliced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Fresh basil - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)
Steps
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and garlic, sautéing for about 3 minutes until they start to soften.
- Add the sliced bell peppers and continue to sauté for another 5 minutes until they start to soften.
- Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the Italian sausage, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the sausage is browned and cooked through.
- Stir the sausage and vegetables together, then season with dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 3 minutes until everything is well combined.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
