- Italian sausage - 250 grams
- Mushrooms (cremini or button) - 200 grams, sliced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Mozzarella cheese - 50 grams, shredded
- Lettuce leaves - 4 large, for wrapping
- Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
Steps
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes until they are soft and golden.
- Add minced garlic, salt, and black pepper to the mushrooms, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Remove the mushroom mixture from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and increase the heat to medium-high.
- Remove the sausage from its casing and shape it into two patties.
- Place the sausage patties in the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and browned.
- During the last minute of cooking, top each sausage patty with shredded mozzarella cheese, allowing it to melt.
- To assemble, place each sausage patty on a large lettuce leaf, top with the sautéed mushrooms, sliced red onion, and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
- Wrap the lettuce around the filling and serve immediately.
