Ingredients

  • Vital wheat gluten - 100 grams
  • Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vegetable broth - 120 milliliters
  • Fresh parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, smoked paprika, black pepper, and chili flakes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, olive oil, and vegetable broth.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Knead the mixture for about 3-5 minutes until it becomes elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a sausage link.
  5. Wrap each sausage in a piece of parchment paper, twisting the ends to secure them tightly.
  6. Steam the wrapped sausages in a steamer basket over boiling water for 20 minutes.
  7. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Remove the sausages from the steamer and unwrap them.
  8. Grill the sausages for about 5 minutes on each side, until they have nice grill marks and are heated through.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite BBQ sides or in a bun with toppings of your choice.
