- Vital wheat gluten - 100 grams
- Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
- Vegetable broth - 120 milliliters
- Fresh parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, smoked paprika, black pepper, and chili flakes.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, olive oil, and vegetable broth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Knead the mixture for about 3-5 minutes until it becomes elastic.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a sausage link.
- Wrap each sausage in a piece of parchment paper, twisting the ends to secure them tightly.
- Steam the wrapped sausages in a steamer basket over boiling water for 20 minutes.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Remove the sausages from the steamer and unwrap them.
- Grill the sausages for about 5 minutes on each side, until they have nice grill marks and are heated through.
- Serve hot with your favorite BBQ sides or in a bun with toppings of your choice.
