  • Ground beef - 150 grams
  • Ground turkey - 150 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Carrot - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Celery - 1 stalk, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Canned tomatoes - 400 grams, crushed
  • Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Red wine - 100 ml
  • Chicken broth - 100 ml
  • Milk - 50 ml
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Fresh basil - for garnish
  • Whole wheat pasta - 160 grams

Steps

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef and turkey to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until reduced by half.
  6. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, chicken broth, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. In the last 10 minutes of cooking, stir in the milk for added creaminess.
  9. Meanwhile, cook the whole wheat pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  10. Serve the ragù over the pasta, garnished with fresh basil.
