- Canned tomatoes - 400 grams, crushed
- Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
- Red wine - 100 ml
- Chicken broth - 100 ml
- Milk - 50 ml
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Fresh basil - for garnish
- Whole wheat pasta - 160 grams
Steps
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and turkey to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
- Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until reduced by half.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, chicken broth, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In the last 10 minutes of cooking, stir in the milk for added creaminess.
- Meanwhile, cook the whole wheat pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- Serve the ragù over the pasta, garnished with fresh basil.
