- Water - 500 milliliters
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Tomato sauce - 200 milliliters
- Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
- Fresh basil - 5 grams, chopped
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a large pot, bring 500 milliliters of water to a boil and add 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Gradually whisk in 150 grams of polenta, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
- Reduce heat to low and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently until the polenta is thick and creamy.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and season with black pepper to taste.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a baking dish, spread half of the cooked polenta evenly on the bottom.
- Layer 200 milliliters of tomato sauce over the polenta, followed by half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Spread the remaining polenta on top, then add the rest of the tomato sauce and finish with the remaining mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Sprinkle chopped fresh basil on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and serve warm.
