Ingredients

  • Polenta - 150 grams
  • Water - 500 milliliters
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Tomato sauce - 200 milliliters
  • Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
  • Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
  • Fresh basil - 5 grams, chopped
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a large pot, bring 500 milliliters of water to a boil and add 1 teaspoon of salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in 150 grams of polenta, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  3. Reduce heat to low and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently until the polenta is thick and creamy.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and season with black pepper to taste.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  6. In a baking dish, spread half of the cooked polenta evenly on the bottom.
  7. Layer 200 milliliters of tomato sauce over the polenta, followed by half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Spread the remaining polenta on top, then add the rest of the tomato sauce and finish with the remaining mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
  9. Sprinkle chopped fresh basil on top.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and serve warm.
