Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Warm water - 120 ml
  • Active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh tomatoes - 300 grams, diced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh basil leaves - 10 leaves, torn
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons (optional)

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  5. While the dough rises, prepare the tomato topping. In a bowl, mix diced tomatoes, minced garlic, torn basil leaves, salt, and black pepper. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 250°C (482°F) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  8. Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough onto parchment paper. Spread the tomato mixture evenly over the surface of the dough.
  9. If using, sprinkle nutritional yeast on top for a cheesy flavor.
  10. Transfer the pizza (with parchment) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden and crispy.
  11. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a couple of minutes, slice, and serve hot.
