Ingredients

  • Spaghetti - 200 grams
  • Fresh clams - 300 grams, cleaned
  • Extra virgin olive oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the cleaned clams to the skillet and cover with a lid. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the clams open up.
  5. Once the clams are open, remove the lid and add the lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  6. Drain the spaghetti, reserving a bit of the pasta water, and add it to the skillet with the clams. Toss everything together, adding a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to create a light sauce.
  7. Finish with chopped parsley and adjust seasoning to taste. Serve immediately.
