- Cherry tomatoes - 250 grams, halved
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Fresh basil - 10 leaves, torn
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Red chili flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
- Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes until they soften and release their juices.
- Season the tomato mixture with salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes (if using).
- When the pasta is done, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water and then drain the pasta.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the tomato mixture, tossing everything together. If the dish appears dry, add some reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.
- Stir in the torn basil leaves and lemon zest just before serving.
- Divide the pasta into two bowls and enjoy immediately.
