- Pasta (spaghetti or linguine) - 150 grams
- Broccoli florets - 200 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- In the last 3 minutes of cooking the pasta, add the broccoli florets to the boiling water with the pasta.
- While the pasta and broccoli are cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
- Once the pasta and broccoli are cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the rest and add the pasta and broccoli directly to the skillet with the garlic.
- Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and reserved pasta water, tossing everything together to combine. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
