Ingredients

  • Pasta (orecchiette or any preferred type) - 200 grams
  • Cherry tomatoes - 250 grams, halved
  • Broccoli - 150 grams, cut into small florets
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh basil leaves - 10 leaves, torn
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. In the last 3 minutes of cooking the pasta, add the broccoli florets to the pot.
  3. While the pasta and broccoli are cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet, season with salt and black pepper, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the tomatoes start to soften.
  6. Once the pasta and broccoli are cooked, drain them and add them to the skillet with the tomato mixture.
  7. Toss everything together gently, allowing the flavors to meld for about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat, stir in the fresh basil, and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  9. Serve immediately, drizzling with a little extra olive oil if desired.
