  • Dried figs - 100 grams
  • Dried apricots - 50 grams
  • Raisins - 50 grams
  • Whole wheat flour - 50 grams
  • Cocoa powder - 10 grams
  • Brown sugar - 80 grams
  • Maple syrup - 30 ml
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cloves - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a small baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the chopped almonds, walnuts, dried figs, dried apricots, and raisins.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  4. Add the dry mixture to the bowl of nuts and fruits, stirring until well combined.
  5. Pour in the maple syrup and mix until the ingredients are well coated and form a sticky dough.
  6. Transfer the mixture into the lined baking dish, pressing it down firmly with a spatula to create an even layer.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges start to pull away from the pan and the top looks set.
  8. Allow the panforte to cool in the dish for 10 minutes before removing it and letting it cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, cut into small squares or wedges and serve.
