Ingredients
- Whole wheat flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh tomatoes - 150 grams, diced
- Fresh mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves - 10 leaves
- Balsamic vinegar - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a bowl, mix warm water with active dry yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 250°C (482°F) and place a pizza stone or baking tray inside to heat.
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness, about 10-12 inches in diameter.
- Transfer the rolled dough to a piece of parchment paper for easy handling.
- Spread the diced fresh tomatoes evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Top with sliced mozzarella cheese, sprinkle black pepper, and add fresh basil leaves.
- Carefully transfer the pizza (with parchment) onto the hot stone or baking tray and bake for 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, drizzle with balsamic vinegar, and garnish with extra basil leaves before slicing and serving.
