Ingredients

  • Linguine - 200 grams
  • Fresh mussels - 500 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Red chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dry white wine - 100 ml
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any debris, and remove the beards.
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the linguine according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red chili flakes, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Add the cleaned mussels, cover the skillet, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mussels open up.
  5. Discard any mussels that do not open. Stir in the lemon juice, chopped parsley, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Add the cooked linguine to the skillet, tossing gently to combine with the mussels and sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with extra parsley if desired.
