- Ground pork - 150 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Carrot - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Celery - 1 stalk, finely chopped
- Canned tomatoes - 400 grams
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Red wine - 100 ml
- Milk - 200 ml
- Butter - 30 grams
- All-purpose flour - 30 grams
- Parmesan cheese - 50 grams, grated
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Nutmeg - a pinch
- Fresh basil - for garnish
Steps
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery, sautéing until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef and ground pork to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 7-10 minutes.
- Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute to create a roux.
- Gradually add milk to the roux, whisking constantly until thickened. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by a layer of lasagna sheets. Repeat the layers, ending with béchamel sauce on top.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.
