Ingredients

  • Lasagna sheets - 200 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Fresh basil - 10 grams, chopped
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ricotta cheese - 250 grams
  • Mozzarella cheese - 150 grams, shredded
  • Parmesan cheese - 50 grams, grated

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Set aside.
  6. Spread a thin layer of the tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Place a layer of lasagna sheets over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, a third of the mozzarella, and a layer of tomato sauce. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of lasagna sheets, the remaining tomato sauce, and the remaining mozzarella and grated Parmesan on top.
  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let the lasagna cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
