- Ground beef - 400 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
- Tomato sauce - 200 grams, preferably unsweetened
- Fresh basil - 5 leaves, chopped
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Zucchini - 1 medium, sliced into rounds (for serving)
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
- Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the burger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- While the burgers are cooking, heat the tomato sauce in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in the chopped basil and let it simmer.
- During the last minute of cooking the burgers, top each patty with shredded mozzarella cheese and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
- Once the burgers are cooked and the cheese has melted, remove them from the skillet.
- Serve the burgers on a plate with zucchini rounds on the side, and drizzle the warm tomato sauce over the patties.
