Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 400 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
  • Tomato sauce - 200 grams, preferably unsweetened
  • Fresh basil - 5 leaves, chopped
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Zucchini - 1 medium, sliced into rounds (for serving)

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the burger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. While the burgers are cooking, heat the tomato sauce in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in the chopped basil and let it simmer.
  5. During the last minute of cooking the burgers, top each patty with shredded mozzarella cheese and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  6. Once the burgers are cooked and the cheese has melted, remove them from the skillet.
  7. Serve the burgers on a plate with zucchini rounds on the side, and drizzle the warm tomato sauce over the patties.
