Ingredients
- Fusilli pasta - 160 grams
- Cherry tomatoes - 300 grams
- Fresh basil leaves - 20 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - to taste
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fusilli pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes start to soften and release their juices.
- Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- Add the cooked fusilli to the skillet with the tomatoes. Toss everything together and add reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Remove from heat and stir in the fresh basil leaves.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional basil if desired.
